Description
Purple Sapphire, Violet Sapphire, or Plum Sapphire is a precious gem variation from the corundum mineral family that ranges in color from bluish purple to purplish pink. Purple Sapphire has a hexagonal (trigonal) crystal arrangement and an Al2O3 chemical composition.
Because it has a Mohs hardness of 9.0, it is considered the strongest form of Blue Sapphire astrologically. Violet Sapphires are similar to Pink Sapphires in color, but they are darker and always purple, ranging from medium Purple to dark Reddish Purple.
Chromium traces can be found in purple sapphires. Purple sapphires are a popular gemstone for use in jewelry. This gemstone is available in western countries for use in engagement rings, pendants, and wedding bands. Purple encourages people to express their emotions.
